My earliest memories are of crayons and coloring books. It was a passion. The first real demanding project was at about age five when my grandmother was admitted to the hospital. My assignment was to adorn her hospital room with as many crayon drawings as I was able to humanly put forth. I can only imagine that her room looked like one giant refrigerator door.

By the age of ten I expressed to my parents a desire to paint, and for several years I painted with oils on canvas.

Sometime during high school I let art slide by the wayside. I saw how talented some of my classmates were and being non-competitive I just dropped out of the art scene completely.

Thirty-three years later, moved by the beauty of the world around me and encouraged by my partner, I decided to once again unleash the artistic muses. In January 2005 I began devoting myself to my artwork and recalling the lessons I had once learned as a child. I painted at home, I painted on vacations and I would even manage to make time to paint at the office during a lunch break or in between seeing patients.

In November 2005, the life I knew changed with a diagnosis of a very rare cancer called Angiosarcoma. With a prognosis of only three to six months, I was keenly aware that I had too many paintings in me to just sit by and succumb to the disease.
I continued my passion for painting during each of my hospital rounds of chemotherapy. My hospital room was transformed into a living gallery.

Now, two years later, I am still undergoing chemotherapy and I am still painting. I hope to someday be free of this disease and devote my time to traveling and painting the world as I see it.
